Vidura articulated these principles in Chapters 33 through 40 of “Udyoga Parva” in the Mahabharata, as a  set of principles and guidelines for leadership Collectively known as Vidura Niti or Vidura’s Statecraft, they outline what wise people and leaders should do, and things they should not.

While contemporary leadership literature offers numerous theories and models, these principles have stood the test of time and continues to be relevant to leaders today in the  corporate and modern life as it was thousands of years ago.

Here are some of the leadership laws to follow and incorporate them in your professional life by Vidura Neeti :

#1 Lead by example:

A leader should set an example for others to follow. In today’s corporate world, leaders must be role models, setting an example for their team members to follow. For instance, if a leader expects their team to be honest and transparent, they must first demonstrate these qualities themselves.
Vidura did not just give advice, he also followed it himself, setting an example for others to emulate. This made him a trusted advisor and a role model for leaders.
For instance, Warren Buffett & Ratan Tata , are known for their exemplary honesty and integrity, which has helped build a culture of trust and transparency within his organization.

#2 Listen to others:

Vidur understood that decisions made without considering the opinions and feedback of others could lead to disastrous consequences. When the Kuru king, Dhritarashtra, refused to give the Pandavas their rightful share, Vidur advised him to reconsider his decision and listen to the opinions of his courtiers. However, Dhritarashtra refused to listen and instead sided with his own son, Duryodhana, leading to a devastating war.
In the corporate world, leaders must listen actively, empathizes, and takes into account diverse perspectives before making any decisions. For example, when a team member expresses an innovative idea, a good leader acknowledges their contribution and engages in a discussion to explore its feasibility.

#3 Act with integrity:

Acting with integrity was also paramount in the Mahabharata, Vidura was known for his unwavering commitment to truth and righteousness, and he expected the same from the leaders he advised. His commitment to integrity was exemplified in his interactions with King Dhritarashtra, who was often swayed by his own desires and biases. Despite the king’s attempts to silence him, Vidura remained steadfast in his convictions and continued to speak truth to power.
A leader should always act with integrity, even when it is difficult. It is about doing the right thing even when no one is looking!
In today’s business environment, leaders must act with transparency, honesty, and ethical standards. This means ensuring that the organization’s actions align with its values, and that everyone in the organization is held accountable for their actions. For example, a leader who upholds integrity would not compromise on quality, even if it means delaying a product launch or missing out on profits.

#4 Be decisive:

One of the examples of Vidura’s decisiveness was when he supported the Pandavas during the game of dice. Despite the opposition of many of the other courtiers, Vidura spoke up in favor of the Pandavas and called out the unfairness of the game. He remained firm in his stance and did not waver in the face of opposition.
Being a decisive leader is crucial to keep the organization moving forward. A leader should be decisive and not hesitate to make tough decisions when necessary. However, decisions must be grounded in facts, data, and the organization’s values. For example, a leader must be prepared to make tough decisions such as downsizing, cutting costs, or changing the organizational structure in response to market demands. This helps to ensure that progress is made and that the organization stays on track.

#5 Develop your team:

A leader must empower and develop their team members to reach their full potential. This means providing training, mentoring, and coaching to help them acquire new skills and knowledge.
Vidura was instrumental in the education and training of the Pandavas and their cousin Karna. He arranged for them to receive instruction in various disciplines, including archery, politics, and philosophy. Vidura also served as a mentor and confidant to the Pandavas.
For example, a leader who invests in their team members’ development can help them take on new roles, responsibilities, and opportunities that align with their strengths and interests.

#6 Communicate effectively:

As a trusted advisor to King Dhritarashtra, Vidura was respected for his ability to convey his ideas and opinions clearly and concisely.
Effective communication is another vital law of leadership in the modern corporate world.A recent study found that organizations with highly effective communication practices are 1.5 times more likely to outperform their peers. Thus, leaders always prioritize communication, holding regular town hall meetings, and using social media to keep employees informed about the company’s progress and goals and helps to ensure that everyone is on the same page and working towards the same goals.

#7 Be adaptable:

Adaptability was a quality that Vidur highlighted in his advice as well. In ancient times, the ability to adapt was critical for survival, and it remains just as important in today’s rapidly changing world and being adaptable in the face of unexpected challenges and shifting circumstances.
In the modern world, organizations that are adaptable and able to pivot quickly are better equipped to deal with the rapid pace of change and the uncertainty that comes with it.
Example – The COVID-19 pandemic forced many businesses to adapt quickly to remote work and digital technologies, and those that were able to adapt successfully were better positioned to weather the storm.

#8 Show respect:

A leader should show respect for others, regardless of their position or background.
Showing respect was not only a moral imperative but also a practical necessity in the Mahabharata. After the gamble – Draupadi pleads with the court for help, but none of the courtiers speak up to defend her. Despite the risk to his own safety, Vidur shows respect for Draupadi and upholds the principles of justice and fairnes Vidur advises the King to treat everyone with respect, regardless of their position or background. He emphasizes that a leader should not be swayed by personal biases or prejudices and should strive to be fair and just in all their dealings. This is exemplified when Vidur advises the King to give equal treatment to all his sons, regardless of their birth order or personal preferences.
In the modern world, showing respect is important not just for building strong relationships within the organization but also for building trust with customers and stakeholders.
This means treating everyone with dignity and kindness and valuing the contributions of each team member.

#9 Take responsibility:

A good leader should take responsibility for their actions and decisions.
Vidura emphasized the importance of taking responsibility for one’s actions. In fact, he believed that a leader should be accountable for both their successes and their failures. After the war, King Yudhishthira, was plagued by guilt over the lives lost in the war, and he turned to Vidura for guidance. Vidura reminded Yudhishthira that he had taken up arms to defend his honor and his kingdom, and that he had done so with the best of intentions, also reminded Yudhishthira that he was responsible for the consequences of his actions, both good and bad. This story highlights the importance of taking responsibility for one’s actions, even in the face of difficult circumstances.
This is a lesson that remains relevant in modern times, as leaders must navigate complex challenges and make difficult decisions that affect the lives of many.

#10 Lead with humility:

A leader should lead with humility ,recognizing that no one has all the answers and that everyone can learn from others. In the modern world, leading with humility is important for building strong relationships with team members and stakeholders, as well as for creating a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Vidura himself was known for his humility and wisdom and demonstrated his humility when he was summoned to give his opinion on a matter of state. Rather than arrogantly assume that his opinion was the only one that mattered, he first sought out the opinions of others, and only after hearing everyone out did he offer his own well-considered advice.

This kind of humble leadership is just as important in modern times as it was in the Mahabharata. Leaders who are willing to listen to others, admit their mistakes, and learn from those around them are more likely to earn the trust and respect of their team members.
They are also more likely to create a culture of openness and collaboration, where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their ideas and expertise.
In contrast, leaders who are arrogant and dismissive of others are more likely to create a culture of fear and mistrust, where team members feel undervalued and disengaged.

Vidur Neeti offers timeless principles and guidelines for leadership that continue to be relevant to leaders in the modern corporate world.
These leadership laws can help build a strong and effective team, make sound decisions, and achieve goals. By embodying these principles, a leader can make a lasting impact on their organisation and create a culture of excellence and integrity.

Understanding “Lakshana” From Vedic Concepts to Modern Applications https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2023/03/14/understanding-lakshana-from-vedic-concepts-to-modern-applications/ https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2023/03/14/understanding-lakshana-from-vedic-concepts-to-modern-applications/#comments Tue, 14 Mar 2023 09:07:00 +0000 https://www.modmonkanshul.com/?p=4021

Lakshana is a Sanskrit word that refers to a method of understanding the meaning of a word or concept. In Vedic philosophy, Lakshana is a key concept used to understand the nature of reality.
It involves identifying the essential qualities or characteristics of something and using these characteristics to convey its meaning
.

Let’s take an example to understand the concept of “Lakshana.”

Consider a cow:

It has four legs, a tail, hooves, and udders, and it eats grass. It gives milk, and is considered holy in Hindu Tradition.
These qualities or characteristics are the “Lakshanas” of a cow. Therefore, when we see an animal with these features, we immediately recognise it as a cow.
No other animal will come in your mind when these characteristics are told to you, they are specific to one.

This is how “Lakshana” helps us identify and understand the essence of something.

On the other hand, in modern slang in Hindi, the term “Lakshana” is often used more loosely to refer to a general trait, mostly behavioual, that a person may possess.
For example, if someone is described as having the “Lakshana” of being honest or trustworthy, it means that they exhibit or a person embodies these qualities in their behaviour.

I hope that my explanation has made the difference between these concepts clearer, and that we can now explore how they may be applied in the modern corporate world.

The Lakshana Concept in Modern – Corporate World

This concept of “Lakshana” can and is applied to the modern corporate world, where the ability to identify and communicate the essential qualities/characteristics of a product or service which is critical for success.
In the business world, understanding and leveraging “Lakshanas” can help organisations differentiate themselves from their competitors, build brand awareness, and increase sales.

For example,
If you think of , sleek, minimalist designs, user-friendly interfaces, and cutting-edge technology, product that is designed to be both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. A company that has – a loyal customer base who appreciates the seamless integration of hardware and software in their devices. A company that consistently produces products that are both practical and visually appealing. The unique design of eaten while apple!
We immediately associate it with Apple Inc !

These are the Lakshanas of the Brand! Unique characteristics that only belong to that product or service, that helps recognise it from many!

Similarly, in the world of marketing, understanding the “Lakshanas” of a target audience is essential for creating effective marketing campaigns.
By identifying a particular demographic’s essential qualities and characteristics, companies can create tailored marketing messages that resonate with their audience and drive sales. By doing so, companies can create a unique identity that helps customers recognize and understand their brand by gaining deeper insights into its nature and using this knowledge to achieve goals and aspirations.

In conclusion, “Lakshana” is a concept that has been used in the Vedic tradition for centuries to understand the essence of things.
In the modern world, it has applications in developing effective branding and marketing strategies, by identifying the essential qualities and characteristics of products/ services.

I look forward to sharing many such concepts and explanations of Vedic wisdom and integrating it in modern corporate world.

What is Antaram Yajna ? https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2023/03/01/what-is-antaram-yajna/ https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2023/03/01/what-is-antaram-yajna/#respond Wed, 01 Mar 2023 02:56:37 +0000 https://www.modmonkanshul.com/?p=3995 I have come across many individuals who are looking for a deeper meaning and purpose in their lives. They feel like something is missing, and they are not fully satisfied with their current reality.

THIS IS WHERE YAJNA COMES IN – THE ACT OF OFFERING AND SACRIFICE.

In Hinduism, it is a ritualistic act of worship that involves offering various substances into a holy fire, such as ghee, grains, flowers, and herbs, while reciting mantras and prayers.

This fire acts as a messenger to the gods and goddesses, and the offerings are a way of showing gratitude, seeking blessings, and purifying one’s soul and the environment as the ingredients used are organic and medical.
Yajna is always done for a greater good of humanity, it is never a selfish act.

But Yajna is not just an external ritual that takes place in a temple or a sacred space.

IT IS ALSO AN INTERNAL ONE THAT TAKES PLACE WITHIN ONESELF.
This is known as Antar-yajna, or the inner sacrifice.

It involves offering our thoughts, emotions, and actions as sacrifices to the divine or universal consciousness, and surrendering our ego and desires to serve a higher purpose.

To perform Antar-yajna, one must offer certain “AHUTIS” or “Offerings” within themselves. These offerings include letting go of attachment to material possessions or emotional sacrifices and focusing on serving the greater good and the universal consciousness.

It involves sacrificing or offering – one’s ego, anger, lust or attachment in the holy internal fire through various ways such as meditation, prayer, and self-reflection.
Through these offerings, individuals can achieve spiritual growth and inner peace, leading to a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

We are all performing Yajnas everyday internally, but we may not be aware of it. Every thought, emotion, and action that we take is an offering to the universe within and we are receiving something in return on a holistic level.

If we are not happy with what we have become or who we are, we need to check what Ahutis we are putting into our Yajna or our inner holy fire!
We need to be mindful of our thoughts, emotions, and actions, and make sure that they are aligned with our higher purpose and destiny.

As a spiritual coach, I encourage everyone to practice Antar-Yajna “consciously” and regularly, and make it a part of their daily routine.

It can be as simple as taking a few minutes in the morning to meditate, or practicing gratitude before going to bed or continuously being aware of your thoughts and intentions – they will add as an offering to your soul and sacred journey on earth.

Lots of Love,

“Mastering Mindfulness: 4 Proven Ways to Integrate Mindfulness at Your Workplace” https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2023/02/19/mastering-mindfulness-4-proven-ways-to-integrate-mindfulness-at-your-workplace/ https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2023/02/19/mastering-mindfulness-4-proven-ways-to-integrate-mindfulness-at-your-workplace/#comments Sun, 19 Feb 2023 08:37:00 +0000 https://www.modmonkanshul.com/?p=4003 Mindful or Mind-full?

Just one letter difference but a huge difference in productivity at the workplace!

In today’s fast-paced corporate world, it is easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of our daily work life.
As senior managers, we are expected to be productive, efficient and deliver results, which often means putting in long hours and juggling multiple tasks simultaneously. However, in this constant race to succeed, we often forget the importance of being mindful at our workplace.

Mindfulness, A “Practice of being fully present and engaged in the present moment”, can help us reduce stress, increase focus and productivity, and improve our overall well-being.

Ways to Integrate Mindfulness at Your Workplace:

# 1. BE CONSCIOUSLY PRESENT

The first way to be mindful at your workplace is to be consciously present. We tend to get distracted by emails, phone calls, and social media notifications, which often take our attention away from the task in hand. To combat this, set aside specific slots during the day to check your notifications and dedicate the rest of your time to the task at hand. It is also important to consciously stop brooding over the previous day’s events or office gossip and bring your complete attention and thoughts to the now.

#2. MEDITATE

The second way to be mindful is to meditate.
Meditation is a powerful tool that can help calm your mind and reduce stress. When you feel overwhelmed or anxious, turn your attention to your breath and focus on all your body parts one by one.
Even a short meditation break during a busy workday can significantly improve your focus, creativity, and productivity.
Consider using your walking breaks to practice mindfulness by concentrating on your steps and breathing example, walking back and forth from the coffee machine by concentrating on your steps and breaths ( mindful walking) and while you sip your coffee – close your eyes and experience it ( mindful eating). These are quick and easy ways to integrate meditation in your workspace.

You can also try breathing cycle ( click here to try it out ).
For mindfulness at work click here to use this guided meditation.

#3. SAY GOODBYE TO MULTITASKING

We weren’t built to multitask! Multitasking is a myth.
Multitasking is often perceived as a desirable skill in the corporate world, but in reality, it can be counterproductive and lead to burnout. It causes our brain to frantically switch from one task to another, leading to anxiety and constant franticness. Instead, focus on one task at a time, give it your complete attention, and then move on to the next task this will help reduce time spent on a task, increase productivity and also increase efficacy and accuracy of your work.

#4. Set Intentions & focus on positives
At the beginning of each workday or before starting a new project, set intentions for what you hope to accomplish and how you want to show up. This can help you stay focused and motivated, and ensure that you’re approaching your work with a clear and purposeful mindset.
Throughout the day you will find yourself sometimes drifting away and dwelling on the negatives more than the positives, try to shift your focus to the positives of the situation. When you remember the positives, your mind will stop replaying the negatives in a loop, allowing you to be more present and engaged in the moment.

Mindfulness at work can help you achieve greater productivity and well-being. By incorporating these four effective ways to be mindful in the workplace, you can improve your focus, reduce stress, and achieve success in both your personal and professional life. Remember, mindfulness is a skill that requires practice and patience, so don’t be discouraged if it takes time to develop.
With consistent effort, you’ll see the benefits of being mindful in the workplace.

I encourage you to incorporate these mindful practices into your daily work routine and observe the positive impact they can have on your productivity, well-being, and overall satisfaction.
Your feedback is highly appreciated, so please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences in the comments section below.
Thank you for reading!

#5 Tips To Improve Your Spiritual Quotient https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2023/02/11/5-tips-to-improve-your-spiritual-quotient/ https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2023/02/11/5-tips-to-improve-your-spiritual-quotient/#comments Sat, 11 Feb 2023 06:00:00 +0000 https://www.modmonkanshul.com/?p=3991 Namaskar!

“EQ” refers to emotional quotient , “IQ” referes to Intelligence quotient and “SQ” to spiritual intelligence or quotient.

While all three types of intelligence are important in their own ways, spiritual intelligence (SQ) is often considered the most important as it is believed to be the foundation for the other two types of intelligence; it is a person’s ability to find meaning and purpose in life, connect with others on a deeper level, and cultivate a sense of inner peace and well-being.
Regardless of your role or occupation, whether you are a full-time corporate worker, a homemaker, a child, a professional or a student, developing your spiritual quotient (SQ) can help you lead a more fulfilling life. And recognising that you are part of the universe and the universe is within you can be a powerful awakening that leads to greater self-awareness.

As someone who has been on a personal journey and helping many  towards improving my own spiritual quotient, I can attest to the transformative power of these simple tips.

I have personally witnessed the transformative power of these tips, and I hope that my experiences can inspire you to embark on your own journey towards spiritual growth.

Let me share some tips with you all to improve your SQ !

Tip #1 – Shift from Ego Self to Inner Wise Self

If you often make decisions based solely on your own desires and needs, without considering their impact on others, consider shifting from your ego self to your inner wise self. Before making decisions, ask yourself, “what would my wise and compassionate self do?” This approach can help you approach situations with greater empathy and understanding, and prioritise kindness and compassion over self-serving motives. By doing so, you may find greater harmony and fulfilment in your life.

Tip #2 – Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness can help you become more aware of your thoughts and emotions, allowing you to respond to situations with greater clarity and intentionality. By observing your thoughts and feelings without judgment, you can gain a greater sense of self-awareness and inner peace.
(for work space mindfulness meditation click here)

Tip #3 – Practice Body Scanning

Your body holds a wealth of information about your internal state, but it’s easy to ignore its signals. Practicing body scanning can help you connect physical sensations with your mental and emotional state. This can help you identify areas of tension or imbalance and take action to address them, leading to a greater sense of self-awareness and well-being.

Tip #4 – Explore Your Life Purpose

If you’re feeling lost or unfulfilled, exploring your life purpose can bring clarity and purpose to your life. Discovering your gifts and talents and aligning your actions with your values can help you feel more fulfilled and bring greater meaning to your daily actions.

Tip #5 – Practice Non-Judgment towards Self and Others

Learning to be non-judgmental towards yourself and others can be challenging but rewarding. By approaching situations with greater compassion and empathy, you can deepen your relationships and cultivate a greater sense of understanding and connection with those around you. Instead of judging others based on their beliefs or experiences, try to approach them with an open mind and willingness to learn from their perspective.

I want to offer a piece of advice to those looking to improve their spiritual quotient: remember that this is a journey, not a destination.
It’s about cultivating a mindset of growth and self-awareness. Be patient with yourself, seek out resources and support, and most importantly, be kind to yourself and those around you.
By cultivating greater empathy and compassion, you can experience a more spiritually fulfilling life.

Lots of love

Tips to minimise strain on relationships – WFM https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2023/02/01/tips-to-minimise-strain-on-relationships-wfm/ https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2023/02/01/tips-to-minimise-strain-on-relationships-wfm/#respond Wed, 01 Feb 2023 06:40:19 +0000 https://www.modmonkanshul.com/?p=3971 Many of us are now working from home, and while it may have seemed like a great opportunity to be more relaxed and stress-free, it has become a source of tension in personal relationships.
The blurring of work and personal life boundaries, coupled with increased workloads, can create strain on our relationships. In such times, it is essential to minimize this strain and prioritize our personal relationships.

Spirituality and mindfulness can be valuable tools to help us maintain healthy relationships while working from home.

Here are some tips that can help you do just that.

  1. Keep communication open:
One of the most important things to do is to keep communication open. It’s important to listen to understand and not just respond. When we listen to our loved ones, we show them that we care about them and their needs. Take the time to really understand their perspective, and make sure that they understand yours as well.
  2. Everyone copes differently:Everyone has their own way of coping with stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. It is important to be each other’s support system during such challenging times. We must be compassionate towards each other and offer understanding and support when needed.
  3. Draw healthy mental boundaries: It’s essential to create healthy boundaries between work and personal life. This can be done by setting specific work hours and sticking to them. It’s also important to take breaks throughout the day, to practice self-care and avoid burnout.
  4. Do activities together:
Practicing meditation or gratitude exercises together can be a great way to connect with each other and reduce stress. These activities can also help us stay grounded and centered amidst the chaos.
  5. See things from others’ perspectives:
In case of conflicts or disagreements, it’s important to take a step back and see things from the other person’s perspective. This can help us understand the root of the problem and come to a more constructive solution.
  6. Share responsibilities: Sharing responsibilities around the house can be a great way to bond with each other and support one another. Help each other with household chores, cooking, or other responsibilities, and take the load off each other’s shoulders.

I know, while working from home has its benefits, it can also create tension in our personal relationships.

I strongly suggest integrate mindfulness and spirituality, in your daily life – and you are sure to create healthy boundaries, communicate effectively, and support each other, at the time build a strong and genuine bond with one another.

Let us prioritise our relationships and remember to show kindness, love, and compassion to those closest to us.

love wins over all!

Having a Meaningful Relationship with Self! https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2022/12/21/having-a-meaningful-relationship-with-self-2/ https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2022/12/21/having-a-meaningful-relationship-with-self-2/#respond Wed, 21 Dec 2022 07:57:00 +0000 https://www.modmonkanshul.com/?p=3986

As someone who has experienced it personally, I can say that being connected with yourself is crucial! It is important for us to never lose that connection with ourselves.
We come into this world alone and we leave alone, yet we often find ourselves distant from our own being, too preoccupied with seeking love and connection from others around us.

Have you ever taken a moment to reflect and ask yourself, “How is my relationship with myself?”

Being disconnected with oneself is a common problem in today’s fast-paced world. We are so busy chasing our external goals that we often forget to take care of our internal well-being. We forget that our relationship with ourselves is the most important one we will ever have.

Unfortunately, many of us have developed negative self-talk, self-doubt, and limiting beliefs that keep us disconnected from ourselves. We may have experienced traumas or past hurts that make it difficult to trust ourselves or feel confident in our abilities. We may have been conditioned by society to believe that our worth is based on external factors such as our appearance, job title, or bank account balance.

However, there are ways to reconnect with ourselves and build a meaningful relationship with ourselves

Being open to yourself and open to self love, is one of the first steps to developing a meaningful relationship with yourself is This can be done through affirmations and positive self-talk, such as repeating the mantra “I love and accept myself unconditionally now.” As you continue to affirm your worthiness and love for yourself, you will start to feel it flow into your energy system and radiate out into the world.

Finding your purpose is another important aspect of developing a meaningful relationship with yourself. When you understand your unique gifts and talents and how they can contribute to the world, you will find a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in life. Take the time to explore your passions, interests, and talents to discover what you are truly meant to do in this world.

Forgiveness is also a key component of developing a meaningful relationship with yourself. Learning to let go of past mistakes and negative self-talk can be difficult, but it is necessary for personal growth and healing. Practice forgiveness by letting go of self-blame and guilt and instead, focus on learning and growing from your mistakes.

Finally, being transparent with your learning curves is essential for personal growth and self-awareness. Take time to reflect on your emotions and feelings with honesty and without judgment. Every situation and experience can teach you something valuable about yourself, and by learning from these experiences, you can grow and become more self-aware.

“Spiritual practices such as meditation and mindfulness can also be helpful in developing a meaningful relationship with yourself. These practices can help you become more present and aware of your thoughts, emotions, and feelings, allowing you to cultivate a deeper connection with your inner self”.

Remember, your relationship with yourself is the foundation for all other relationships in your life. By prioritising self-love, purpose, forgiveness, and transparency, you can develop a meaningful relationship with yourself and create a life of happiness, fulfilment, and spiritual growth.

Having a meaningful relationship with yourself is not only important for your happiness but also for your spiritual growth. As you become more self-aware and accepting, you will be able to connect more deeply with your soul’s purpose and find greater fulfilment in life.

What is Dharma? https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2022/08/14/what-is-dharma/ https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2022/08/14/what-is-dharma/#respond Sun, 14 Aug 2022 11:00:00 +0000 https://modmonkanshul.com/?p=948 Dharma, is the most talked about topic in Hindu and Buddhist religion and still most of us fail to understand the meaning of “Dharma”, and sadly is not understood due it’s utmost simplicity.

Questions like; “is my religion, my dharma?”, “ Can I call my work, my dharma?”, “is looking after the wellbeing of my family, my dharma?”, or “is my contribution to the society, my dharma?”. And if answer to any of them is yes, “how should I function, manage and live for myself and for the Dharma?”

Dharma or Dhamma is law of being, it is the law of universe, and the inhabitants of the universe and also the religion that is created by man.

Dharma is that live wire that keeps the universal balance and together creating harmony between all its creations.

Dharma’s foremost proactive teaching is to understand and accept your core being and latter to rest. But, the question rings in the head is , HOW? How Dharma helps to understand and accept one’s core being and rest. And what is law of universe? Answer to both questions is as simple as we breath, it is a natural phenomenon that deals with out psychologyfrom every aspect of life.

Many cultures and people across the globe consider dharma as religion and if they follow their religious beliefs and dogmas they are following dharma – which is far from the truth.

In religion you can workshop gods, goddess or any deity but dharma is the law – you cannot worship it – we just need to follow it.

The truth of dharma is that it can-not be seen or is not containable or tangible but still exists in the core of a being, as a fine balance.

Dharma helps you to learn what makes you angry, happy, calm, upset; what and when to let go of emotions that causes much damage to your soul; and primary to differentiate emotions from action. Which means, understanding your situation to act in best interest of everyone.

Therefore, Dharma is an art of living. We can see dharma every where, in everyone , all you need is awareness. Without awareness you tent to miss out the obvious and your mind will not help you analyse information to the best interest of all.

One has to be aware, otherwise you can miss the obvious! And dharma is the obvious, God is the obvious. It is not a complicated, complex thing.

WHEEL OF DHARMA

There are four wheels to the cart of dharma:

  1. Bhakti – feeling of surrender, pure love.
  2. Shakti – strength, courage to face and analyse the truth of situation & self without judgment
  3. Karma – action, to take necessary when needed without worrying about the reward.
  4. Gyan – Knowledge turned into wisdom that helps making the decisions ones we have analysed the information at hand.

To embark the journey of self-exploration, meditation is the most hands-on approach followed by spiritual gurus.

The benefit of meditation not only introduces you to your emotions but also, shows the ways to handle and be mindful of it which, opens the gateway to soul and this is how, one can discover about ones Dharma – the desire of soul and how to fulfill  them.

Silence is Mystical https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2021/08/24/silence-is-mystical/ https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2021/08/24/silence-is-mystical/#respond Tue, 24 Aug 2021 05:17:04 +0000 https://modmonkanshul.com/?p=1664 Silence is Mystical

Have you ever experienced silence? When you have had some loud noise or music around you – and you suddenly shut if off – there is a space where its pin drop!
Your mind starts to vibrate and you can suddenly hear your heartbeat! It is in these quite moments you find the bliss of your being.
Silence speaks when you quieten your mind and the chatter inside you.
You get connected to the divine source and the knowledge that you get is phenomenal.
When you silence your mind the waters deep within settle, and you can see clearly; the universe inside you becomes calm and visible.
It invites you to see your true self eliminating what you are not, stripping off the false notions of your being; only to realize you are no one and at the same time the universe itself.
The state of ‘Meditation’ is becoming quite and reconnecting with the mystical resource of your being within.

We fear what we do not understand https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2021/08/24/we-fear-what-we-do-not-understand/ https://www.modmonkanshul.com/2021/08/24/we-fear-what-we-do-not-understand/#respond Tue, 24 Aug 2021 05:16:45 +0000 https://modmonkanshul.com/?p=1662 What you do not know, you tend to fear. This is the truth for the majority of people.
I have seen people fall into the trap of calculated understanding and logic to prove points that need to be actually experienced and energetically understood.
We are trained in the way, if you cannot prove it – it does not exist or is not valid.
When you do not understand things, or some things that go beyond the area of
pre- conceived knowledge one tends to disregard it – through logic or baseless theories that our minds have already accepted at some point in time as we grew up. It is conditioning of our mind. We refuse to go beyond our thought processes or imagination, whereas I know that the reality or truth is far stranger or unimaginable than fiction ever can be.
Such is the case with many so called educated qualified individuals.
Education does not provide Wisdom. It provides second hand information that can only be repeated without experience.
